If you haven’t seen Beyond The Peloton series head over to Bartape.net. Film makers Joe Finkleman and Booker Sim follow the creation and first racing season of the Cervélo TestTeam. With their all-access passes, Finkleman and Sim show you what race footage fails to capture, everything “beyond the peloton”. Check out the segments from the high-definition documentary. The footage is amazing. The edits are sharp. The training is inspiring. A great kick off to 2010.

“One of the main goals of Cervélo TestTeam is to provide fans with better access to the world of pro cycling. Joseph Finkleman and his small crew have unlimited access to the team and we hope the series will show fans how a team is built, and what life is like on a professional cycling team. Fans can always watch race footage on television and online. But this is something different. We want to take the viewer, as the title implies, beyond the peloton to reveal everything that happens before and after the actual race. We’ll show the personalities of riders and staff, the equipment testing and all the effort it takes for a small team to compete against the biggest teams in the sport. I have always thought this is the most interesting part of cycling and I believe that cycling fans of all stripes will find it equally compelling.” – Gerard Vroomen, co-founder of Cervélo.

Last Minutes with ODEN from phos pictures on Vimeo. I’m sure most of us have had to go through what Jason Wood aka “Woody” and the “Mayor of Downtown” went through in this preview clip for an upcoming documentary on Woody releasing in 2010. Forewarned, it’s an emotional piece and it tore me up this morning.

There’s no doubt that riding opens the heart and can serve as an emotional release. There have been plenty of times when  riding is just about the only thing I could think of doing in place of shoving my emotions into a bottle of Southern Comfort.  That’s in part, why this piece was so moving. At the end, it’s really about a man’s relationship and close bond with his dog and friend.

You can find out more about Long Beach resident Jason Wood, aka “Woody” and the “Mayor of Downtown” through PhosPictures.com and Citygrounds. There’s a brief profile piece on We Love LB.

I’m not a religious man, I don’t believe in god. But this quote got me and holds true in my life – “The older I get the more sensitive I get…and thank god.” - Jason Wood aka “Woody”

Moving piece.

  • Directed/Edited: Eliot Rausch
  • Director of Photography: Luke Korver, Matt Taylor
  • Song: Big Red Machine / Justin Vernon + Aaron Dessner

Documentary Release 2010. As seen all over the interweb, and of course over at Prolly.

PUSH PULL from Landis Fields on Vimeo. Absolutely amazing.

A glimpse of a friend and athlete by the name of Pete Billington. Film by Landis Fields, Zac Wollons, Punn Wiantrakoon, and Brian Berringer. Directed and Edited by Landis Fields. The project required 2 locations. All of the outdoor shots were taken out of the back/top of a four door jeep wrangler going up Mount Tamalpais. Everything else took place on a stage in a controlled studio environment that was lit using 2 soft boxes. The entire film was shot on 2 canon 7D’s (mostly at 60p for “slow-mo” flexibility later on while editing) and 1 Canon 5D at 30p which was conformed to a 24 frame timeline. All cameras were equipped with different lenses that fit the needs of each shot. Music by A Perfect Circle – Outsider (Apocalypse Remix). I hope you enjoy the film as much as we did creating it. Landis Fields.

Deep in the trenches of Austin, TX, there’s a mob of bike fanatics turning the classic bourgeoisie sport of polo into a fresh new urban sport. The big difference is that you don’t need a steed and saddle to participate — you just need a bike.

Bike polo has a live-and-let-live aesthetic when it comes to the gear. Like any competitive sport, though, there are a few guidelines that keep scores legit and separate the pros from the newbies.

Underground Vibes from 13thWitness™ on Vimeo. Stylistically…SO GOOD!

From 13th Witness: I don’t intend for this to be viewed as just another skate video. It’s not about tripods and trying to cram as many tricks into a clip as you can. This is Beyond that. For me, It’s meant to be a Visual Journey. My Interpretation of a place i once called Home myself. Tokyo! Come Follow SHINGO and I, as We cruise the night streets of Shibuya & Harajuku!!
