In addition to An Illustrated Life, and Taschen’s Men’s Adventure Magazines (crazy illustrations) I got this gem from my friend over the holiday season. Upper Playground’s 10 Years of T-Shirt Graphics. The 612-page hardcover book covers more than 2000 designs from hundreds of artists that have been featured on Upper Playground apparel and exhibited at the shows, events, and parties each year in the Upper Playground store and affiliated gallery Fifty 24. Jeremy Fish, Sam Flores, Anthony Lister, Masa, Estevan Oriol and Morning Breath to name a few. This book is eye candy galore. Check it out.

Slightly off topic but I loved this piece. Not only for the event but for the Bobbito cameo (2:06), which caught me by surprise. I’ve been to his shows and seen him in random video shorts, he’s never without a smile. It’s infectious, and makes you think of good people, and close friendships. Bobbito was also recently featured in a promo segment for the upcoming CNN special Latino in America (Premieres Oct. 21 & 22 | 9P ET) by Soledad O’Brien, another hero of mine dating back to her coverage of Hurricane Katrina and her relentless questioning of then FEMA chief (asshole and quasi-racist) Mike Brown. Enjoy.
